End of a Race in Southern Indiana

I’m Kerry, a Utah based yoga teacher and avid runner. My days are mostly spent in graduate school, working on my phd, but my mornings and evenings are spent running and doing yoga (among a few other things). My blog is about running, staying healthy while training and how yoga helps me do that. As a yoga teacher, I’m always looking for fun ways to build flexibility and strength. I’ll share my experiences while I train and also some sequences and yoga moves that might just help you have fun and get a (tiny) bit faster.

I got into running in high school as a sprinter, running the 200 and the 400. However, as an adult, sprinting is a lot harder and I settled into running longer distances. I have battled with some knee and ankle injuries that kept my milage low, and rather inconsistent. However, about a year ago, after healing from a torn ATFL in my ankle, I started running again with longer distances and higher milage in mind.

Besides running and yoga, I’m really into hiking, biking, paddling, and caving with my husband. We started a local adventure club in South Bend, where we take people out to enjoy the outdoors at state and local parks in the area.

I also spend a lot of time in a lab working on genome sequencing of organisms while they are under stress. It can be fun, but also…pretty stressful (my boss thinks it’s funny that I’m always stressed while studying stress). Running and yoga helps keep me sane and gives me time to think more clearly about life.
