Short Core Sequence for Runners (and everyone else too)!

Core work is usually everyone’s least favorite exercise to do. In yoga classes, I rarely get suggestions for it, and when I do sequences with a lot of core exercises, usually everyone complains or makes some pretty mean-looking faces. Even though people don’t like it… it’s still important to do. In fact, I think the less you like it, the more important it is that you do it! So… I’ve put together a short core sequence using yoga postures. I picked sequences that should not bother your back, but still give you more strength and body awareness. Let me know what you think in the comments. Enjoy!

Do you hate doing core work? What are your least favorite exercises to do?

  1. I don’t hate core work but maybe that’s because I love lifting and I get most of my core work from that! It is nearly impossible to lift without engaging your core in almost every exercise… some more than others of course! I swear pull ups burn my abs more than they burn my shoulders!

    • I have a lot of trouble lifting. My core work (and strength work) almost exclusively comes from yoga. I’ll occasionally try lifting, but I get bored and my form is bad… so I never get too into it. I should totally take a page out of your book though. I think I should be doing it more!

  2. Is it ok to say I hate working out in general. I love running and anything outside of that just annoys me because it is taking away from my running. Hey you asked lol

    • I totally get that! Outside of yoga and running, I HATE working out. I tried to get into biking, but I have a lot of trouble with it, and I HATE HATE HATE weight training. I guess we’re kinda in the same boat here.
